A BRIEF HISTORY On September 27, 1896, the “Cassa Rurale di Prestiti (Rural Loan Institute) di San Giorgio di Perlena” was founded at the Dean's Church of San Giorgio di Perlena. Attending the ceremony was Don Gaetano Plebs and a group of thirty farmers. The purpose of the institute, as specified in the charter, was “...the moral and economic improvement of Members, with absolutely no political aims”. In 1938, the name was changed to “Cassa Rurale e Artigiana di Fara”. In 1995, the name was changed to “Banca San Giorgio - Credito Cooperativo di Fara Vic.”, and the name and purpose of the firm were finalized into their current form in 2000.
